About Jenny
Depth work for people who’ve already tried the surface stuff.
“To be human is to be visible. To be visible is to risk. To risk is to be brave.”
Jenny Pfeiffer, MA, LPC · License VA#0701008470 MA#10000633 NY#016919
Psychodynamic · IFS Informed · Attachment-Based · Trauma-Focused · Jungian
I work with people who are good at life and lost in it at the same time. Executives. Entrepreneurs. Therapists. Parents with full careers and empty marriages. High achievers who can articulate exactly what’s wrong and can’t see to change it. That gap - between knowing and feeling, between insight and intimacy - is where I do my best work.
My approach is psychodynamic and depth-oriented, informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory, Jungian analysis, and trauma-informed practice. That means we don’t just talk about your week. We go underneath, to the parts of you that were formed long before this relationship, this job, this body of symptoms you’ve been managing.
I was born and raised in Durban, South Africa, and have spent the last 20 years in Virginia Beach building a practice rooted in the same belief: connection requires both courage and honesty. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and have studied Research Psychology, Divinity, and Journalism. I’m a co-author of SPENT: The Money Talk Is Never About The Money (Health Communications Inc., 2026), and a keynote speaker for Executive programs at Academic Institutions.
Are You Fiercely Connected?
Connection is at the core of who we are as human beings. Connecting to our partners, our children, our friends. Connecting to our work, our professional goals, and ultimate success.
And finally, most importantly; connecting to ourselves.
It takes profound courage to connect and a fierce commitment to attaining it. Often a lack of connection results in struggles in our relationships and wrestling through depression, anxiety, and anger.
Where you might be…
Weighed Down,
but Unsure Why.
Carrying rather than Sharing.
You’re the one who holds it together for everyone else. The relationship is functional, but not intimate. You can solve anything except the distance between you and the people you love most.
Life looks successful from the outside. Inside, there’s a low-grade exhaustion you can’t explain to anyone — including yourself. You don’t need to explain it here. You just need room to finally feel it.
Ready for Change, but Not Sure What’s Next.
You’ve read the books, done the work, tried the things. Something still isn’t shifting. You’re not broken — you’re ready for something deeper than what you’ve tried so far.
…and how I can support
Jenny understands how much courage it takes to come to session and is deeply committed to your success.
Often clients feels hopeless or "stuck". Jenny understands what that is like and when her clients cannot hold hope, she holds it for them.
Jenny believes that helping her clients begins with her willingness to continue to grow. She spends an enormous amount of time gaining insight so she can give to her clients in meaningful and effective ways.
What happens when the work goes deep.
“Jenny has an amazing ability
to engage in smart, meaningful conversation while drawing
on the ‘behind the scenes’ emotional foundations of my feelings and perceptions.”
“I wish I had done it earlier.”
I'm someone who values very deep and connected conversations and relationships. Jenny has an amazing ability to engage in smart, meaningful conversation while drawing on the "behind the scenes" emotional foundations of my feelings and perceptions.
There is a stigma attached to "getting help" or "seeing someone" but I can only say I wish I had done it earlier. I have learned so much about myself by simply talking to someone who is unbiased and can look at my situation with a press perspective has made a huge difference.

“Her analysis helps me understand the "why" behind my actions.”
Jenny listens and processes not only what I'm saying but also how I'm saying it then helps me understand my perceptions and asks meaningful follow up questions. Her analysis helps me understand the "why" behind my actions and allows me to better apply that understanding to my behavior.

“She is extremely good at what she does and takes her profession seriously .”
I enjoy coming to see Ms. Pfeiffer weekly because I know I'm going to feel better by the time our session is over. When I start feeling overwhelmed and like I can't get a handle on what's going on in my life she has an amazing way of thinking outside of the box and has the ability to help me see things in a different light. Jenny is very understanding and nonjudgmental and has truly helped me though the most difficult time in my life.
I have been to many different life coaches over the past ten years or so and I feel by far Ms. Pfeiffer has been the most helpful one yet. Ms. Pfeiffer is very professional and I believe she cares about the people she works with. It's my opinion that she is extremely good at what she does and takes her profession seriously. I'm willing to bet you'll have many testimonials to back me up. I'm very happy to have found Jenny Pfeiffer. She is amazing!

“My sessions with her are teaching me more about who I am.”
Ms. Pfeiffer has helped me to understand the reasons why I react to situations the way I do and is helping me learn how to respond in a way that is much healthier for me and my family. My sessions with her are teaching me more about who I am, how to be more accepting of myself and how to be a better partner and mother.
